We have been there, done that. Shelling out our best wedding day tips for brides-to-be.
Best Wedding Day Advice from Real Brides.

Focus on what matters most: Enjoy your wedding day. Complex schedules and tight timelines take the joy out of any event. Enjoy planning simple - give yourself pockets of time to breathe and be in the moment with your loved ones.

We are surrounded by families and friends who are more than willing to help and support us if something goes wrong. With amenities a stone's throw away, anything we urgently require is either a phone call away or a short trip to the shopping malls.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

When I thought a wedding was supposed to be the height of the experience, 90% of my brides tell me that they can't wait for their wedding to be over. If you find yourself lost in the sea of details that stresses you out, it may be time to re-evaluate what's truly important for the event. Since it is a once-in-a-lifetime event, hire a wedding planner, or leave it to a friend who has phenomenal hands to remove that weight off your shoulders.

start the day with a light breakfast

Brides feed everyone at their wedding except themselves.

A wedding day is a long day packed with activities. Feel fit and fresh on your wedding day, and food is the key to ensuring that. Be kind to yourself as it is your wedding day after all. Take a light breakfast even when you have no appetite, or have your bridesmaids carry light snacks for you and the groom. You will be starving when you get back to the hotel at the end of the event.

  • Bread with nut spread
  • Cereals with fruits and nuts
  • A hearty salad with chicken breast
  • Sandwich
  • Meal replacement drinks
  • Vitamins and supplements
  • McDonald breakfast

INTROVERTS, DON'T BE INTIMIDATED BY THE CAMERA

Awkward being the center of attention, you are the star of the day no matter what. Know that those clicks from your photographer's professional DSLRs help you freeze those lovely moments that can never come back. Each smile into the camera is a photo in return.

SKIP BEAUTY TREATMENTS (with down-time) BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DAY

You have a lot on your plate. Don't try something new right before the wedding. Brides who succumbed to new beauty treatments end up with bruises on their arms, chemical peel (scabs), redness from facial extractions, etc.

Select treatments that make you feel amazing!

  • Book a massage
  • Book a relaxing spa
  • Manicure and Pedicure at your favourite salon
  • Get a refreshing scalp massage
  • Get your eyelash extensions done

Adopt a positive mindset

A positive mindset is your best friend on your wedding day. Think of good things - be happy and contented. Focus on what went right - instead of situations that did not go according to plan. There are bound to be unforeseen situations that are not within your control. Remember, don't sweat the small stuff.

Prepare your SPEECH early

The makeup session is NOT the perfect time to write your wedding speech.

Plan, and write your speech early. Let the task be the least of your worries. Weddings are personal and are full of emotions. You are in control of what to say, how much to say, and how you can manage your emotions in front of the people who are attending your wedding. If you are an introverted bride, don't feel pulled by tradition to type out a long list of people to thank, or describe to the audience how much your parents / parents-in-law have done for you. Could these heartfelt words be communicated to the respective people in private instead of publicly?

  1. Consider the majority of the audience.
  2. It's okay to keep the speech short and sweet
  3. It's okay not to mention everyone's names - they are there to support you, and they don't need to be credited publicly
  4. If you have a joke, include that. Everyone loves a good laugh

TAKE CONTROL of your happiness

It’s not about what your parents want, or what your friends did during their wedding. Your wedding day is a representation of your partnership with your husband. Make it work for you, reflect both your personalities and make it unique.
